This morning I woke up with the firm intention of getting the few remaining stars I had left in Super Mario Galaxy to reach the 120 stars goal. Some of them posed a challenge but it never turned into frustration. I had done the purple coins and comet stars as they gradually appeared throughout the game instead of leaving them all for the end. It was the right thing to do. I never felt like they were a chore but more like a test of skill.
Once you get all 120 stars, you need to do the final battle again in order to see the extended ending and to unlock Luigi. I can now play the game as Mario brother, he runs faster and jumps higher, but when you stop running he slides for a bit which make things more tricky in certain occasion. I’ve heard you have to get all 120 stars again with Luigi in order to reach the last galaxy with the 121st star. It’s a bit lame but I’ll probably end up doing it anyway.
Like I’ve said before, it is a great game and the last 6 galaxies are really the best ones, so even if you reached the 60 mark and fought the final Bowser keep playing to at least see all the galaxies.
Edit: Looking at that picture, I just realized the clock on my Wii is busted haha.

Congrats on the 120!
it’s true, when you have ended the game with mario, you have to start over with luigi…
